Hello, I'm Maria
I work as a project manager. I'm a parent. An expatriate living in Lisbon, Portugal.
A few years back, I moved here with my family. What began as a temporary contract gradually evolved into a new chapter of life abroad.
How It Started
Moving to Portugal wasn't part of the long-range plan. Like many international moves, it began as a job opportunity and soon grew into something far more significant.
The initial months were demanding — unfamiliar systems, new routines, higher expectations. Daily tasks felt more complex than they should.
The Adjustment Period
There was cultural adjustment, ambiguity, and a lot of learning by doing. But gradually, routines formed. We found places that fit us, connected with other families, and began building something that felt steady.
Why I Built StillDunesMark
Most information online was either corporate-level relocation guidance or superficial tourism material. What was missing was an honest, everyday family perspective.
This site exists to close that gap — practical guidance based on real life in Portugal.
What This Site Does (And Doesn't)
This site is:
- Practical know-how from life in Portugal
- Centered on family life and daily realities
- Updated when something truly changes
This site is not:
- An official tourism resource
- A sponsored review platform
- Just another generic travel blog
Looking Forward
Our stay in Portugal continues, and so does the learning journey. As long as the information remains helpful, I’ll keep documenting what we uncover.
If you have questions about family life in Lisbon or anywhere in Portugal, don't hesitate to get in touch.
Best regards,
Maria
